Good Morning, Angela! Quit Punching Me!

One of the best things about springtime is waking up to the beautiful sound of a bird singing and opening your eyes to a window glowing with sunlight.

Jonathan and I have no such luxury.

This is what we see when we open our eyes:

Granted, it is adorable sight to see and thank you! Angela DOES have gorgeous eyes, doesn't she?

But do keep in mind...

This comes with some BAD puppy breath. Her breath stinks more than the Situation's jokes on the Roast of Donald Trump.

Note: The Situation was AWFUL. If you wanna see how bad that was, check out this link:

Angela's breath stinks THAT bad.

Sometimes it's not even just puppy breath. Some mornings, Jonathan and I are blessed with the rough, clawing touch of puppy punches to wake up because Angela needs to go outside.

Normally, I can appreciate that Angela is notifying us that she needs to go outside instead of flat out popping a squat in the middle of the bedroom. However, Angela will occasionally aim for my eye. My vision is bad enough. Plus, she'll scratch at me so hard sometimes, it looks like Jonathan took a swing at me!

So not only do I get a blast of killer puppy breath, I will also get morning punches if I don't wake up right away.

Great way to start the day.

Back to Square One

Just when I think Angela is finally getting it and learning how to be a good puppy, she goes and destroys the den.

I'm not going to post a picture of this. The police would think it was a crime scene.

Just trust me when I say it was awful.

Yesterday I was stuck at home (I'm sick on my week off from school!) so I figured I'd take care of some tidying up around the house. Some nagging hunch I had was telling me "Get to da den!" so slowly, with suspicious, ominous violin music playing in my head, I crept towards the doorway to the den. It looks fine so far. I can see the nice zebra print lounge chair and that looks safe (Thank God cuz that's my favorite piece of furniture in there besides the rocking chair my great-great grandmother rocked me in).
I get a little closer and peek around the corner and...

Angela turned the den into a scene straight out of C.S.I.

I bet the next three neighborhoods heard my scream of frustration.

It takes me honestly 35 minutes to even make a dent in the mess my naughty puppy made.

Where was Angela you ask? Oh, she know exactly what Mommy's sound-barrier-breaking screams mean. Baby is in BIG trouble. Angela was cowering under the bed with her fluffy golden tail between her legs.

What's so disappointing is Angela was doing so well about being good in the house when out of Mommy's sight! I honestly don't understand what triggers these urges of hers to bring about chaos. I give her attention at home. I play with her. What could possibly be causing this? And why does she always target the den?

Oh, well. At least it's blog material. Plus, Angela's making the week a lot more... interesting. That's Angela for ya. Guess it's back to ol' puppy drawing board.

Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

Spring Into Action!

It's spring break for college students! Time for beaches, sunshine, music, beer, bikinis, tanning and volleyball in the sand!

My God in Heaven, I hate spring with a fiery passion.

Fortunately, I don't have to do any of those things listed above! :D

How will I spend my spring break?

Training my puppy!

Doesn't she look so eager to learn!

Yesterday, before heading out into the cold, cruel world to go to Borders, Jonathan was trying to prove that Angela was an obedient dog that listened to commands. He said to her:

"If you're a good girl, you'll sit!"

Angela just snout-pokes him in the pelvic area of his body.

"C'mon, be a good girl and sit!"

Nothing but snout-pokes.

"Sit!"

Angela just whines happily and wags her tail.

Well, since I've not made any plans for spring break, I've decided to spend some quality time with my puppy. See if maybe I can teach her some basic tricks and maybe....just maybe...teach Angela to behave decently when around company.

To be honest, Angela can be smart if she's focused. I feel for Angela. I really do. I was diagnosed with ADD when I was 11, and my 5th grade teacher wanted me to be held back because I refused to show my work on math assignments. The teacher suspected I was cheating on my assignments and discussed this with my mom. Fortunately, my mom knew I was capable of doing the work (I thought showing my work was stupid if I could do it in my head) and didn't feel I needed to be held back. Maybe Angela has some kind of doggie ADD.

No matter. I believe in my puppy. I know she can be a good girl. This morning, I went over Angela's basic training routine she has down-pat so far: Sit, lie down, roll over. I'm not going to lie. It was incredibly difficult to get her to just SIT the first time I started really cracking down on the training.

Let's see what I can teach my puppy.

Wish me luck!
